Support for Wearable, IoT Devices for CPR

An experiment showed that nurses training in CPR relied on a training watch during CPR to feel safe during the stressful situation, a magnetic field based localization system was used to share their locations, they also used the watch to determine the depth and frequency of the compressions, directly linking to the quality of the resuscitation (Gruenerbl et al., 2015).

Another research study consisted of an application for a smartwatch that used colors and numbers to denote whether compressions were too weak or strong. "89% of all study-participants stated that they felt much safer while performing CPR with the assistance of the watch than without and 92% were sure that they performed better with the assistance of the watch” (Ohmura & Yamamoto, 2016).
